World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft

Postby Beren » Tue Dec 28, 2004 1:44 pm

The Butchers are now involved with World of Warcraft and have made it our "official" game. If you haven't played the game, try it. This is, in my opinion, the most addicting game that I have ever played!

Now if I could only get more than 6 hours of sleep per night... :(

Sticks, you remember how much time we spent in-game when we played America's Army, don't you? I averaged one hour per day if you believe traacker. When I can, (and even when I shouldn't), I play WoW from the time I get up (earlier than ever before because of this game) until 1:30 - 2:00 AM. NO other game has ever had me this hooked. If they permanently shut down the WoW servers, I would wither away and die...

It's actually scaring me how addicted I am to this game. :o

I like Penny Arcade's most recent write up on WoW:

What they say about miners is true, too

I don't know about that but I doubt it. If so, we're on the Arthas server, playing on the Alliance side. :)

My understanding is that European and US servers will be separate.

hmm, definately the best mmorpg around but i guess i won't buy it. If you don't have ppl that you can play this game with it's kinda senseless. Maybe it's just the euro scene, but so far none of the playes that i talked to wanted to fight together.
If you go into a tavern, it's empty... From other games i played there are usually no seats available in the taverns, cause everyone is chatting there for fun. Also, there are no real market places. Sure, you can sell your stuff to other players but kinda hard to find someone who wants to buy your stuff. In RYL for example you're able to go to a crowded place (i.e market place) and open up a shop and if you're not overpriced, everything is gone in less than 5 minutes.
Another thing that i don't like is that your character is bound to one server. Even if you're level 35256 in your server, you're just a worthless noob in another server, meaning that there will be no super heroes that everyone who plays this game knows.
The gameplay depth is amazing though. Dunno, i guess i prefer to play a free game (beta too, but the beta lasts already 1 year) that is a bit less good but free.

It's definitely not like that in the US. There are LOTS of people playing the game around the clock and it's not a problem grouping with others.

There is not real "market" per se, but there is an Auction House and the system works. If you know what you are doing you can make some serious (fake) money! You can also make announcements on a Trade channel in the major cities and that works well too, if you're willing to stick around.

Blizzard is apparently working to allow you to move your character to other servers from what I have heard.

I've been playing the game non-stop since its release on Nov. 23, 2004 and I still love the game!

I see that by the end of the first weekend over 380,000 copies of the game were sold in Europe. You may not have a problem with empty servers...
